Delay in distribution of 2006/07 PSS Member Statements

We previously reported to members through CEO Online that 2006/07 Member Statements would be posted from mid-October. Due to unforseen delays in implementing systems upgrades for the government’s Better Super reforms and the new way of allocating Fund earnings, the distribution of 2006/07 Member Statements has been delayed. We will update members when a firm date for the finalisation and distribution of statements is clearer.

If you would like a benefit estimate you will need to complete an Estimate Request form and return it to us. A written estimate can usually be provided within 10 working days.

In the meantime, if you would like to read about the performance of your Fund in the 2006/07 Annual Report, you can access a copy here.

We apologise for the delay in providing your Member Statement and any inconvenience this may have caused. We are working hard to minimise the delay and any reoccurrence of it in the future.

CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS ONLY

Please note that you are in a defined benefit scheme, which means that your benefit is defined in advance. Your benefit is worked out as a lump sum amount by multiplying your Final Average Salary (FAS) by your Accrued Benefit Multiple (ABM).

Your FAS is the average of your super salaries on your last three birthdays. Your ABM is based on your contribution rate. The following table shows how your ABM grows depending on the rate your contribute.

(% of salary)
Accrued Benefit Multiple p.a
(if you have satsified the Ten Year Rule)

To calculate how much you would have earned during the past 12 months, you take your FAS and multiply it by your ABM. For example, if you contribute at 5% your benefit multiple is 0.21.

You can find our your approximate accrual for 2006/07 based on these factors. Once you have this amount, you can add it to your previous balance and get a good idea of how much you had in the PSS on 30 June 2007.
