From 1 October 2016 PSS members can apply for lifePLUS choice cover via a PSSap Ancillary membership.

lifePLUS cover has been designed exclusively with Australian Government employees in mind and offers the ability to customise your insurance for your circumstances:

  • Lump sum Death and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) cover options
  • Income protection cover with a range of options to suit your circumstances.

Members can also retain insurance cover should they leave their APS employer to take up a job outside the APS.

Insurance through your PSS membership can help to protect your lifestyle and support your family in the unlikely event of injury to you or even your death.

What are my insurance options?

Contributing PSS members receive automatic permanent invalidity or death cover at no extra cost; you are covered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You are covered for a benefit based on your entitlement had you worked to age 60. Limited benefit members accrue benefits only up to the date of retirement or death – no future service is taken into account (it is outlined in your Member Statement).

New PSS members must complete a Your confidential medical and personal statement (CMAPS) [PDF 1 MB] CMAPS must be sent to CSC within 14 days of commencing PSS membership.

Some members may be entitled to increase their death and invalidity cover.
